BUY A PRINTMany photographs were taken on the streets of Cardiff as a teenager in the early to mid 1970’s most of which have been lost (thanks Pickfords!), never made it to Australia and exist now as memories.
Cardiff at that time was the Cardiff of the Arms Park, Hayes Island snack bar, Cardiff Central Market and that sarsaparilla bar tucked away down one of those arcades full of cigarette smoke, yellowing walls adorned with old photos of racing pigeons and race horses.

May 29, 1977. Fire sweeps through the iconic Victorian era Esplanade Hotel on the seafront at Penarth.

The site was later redeveloped to accommodate modern apartments after remaining empty for a few years.
Capital city of the Welsh nation. Many local streets are named in celebration of 19th century English military campaigns and include Waterloo Gardens, Stallcourt Ave, Sandringham Rd, Kimberley Rd, Blenheim Rd.
These image show snow scenes during the winter of 1975-76, a particularly cold year. Believed to be the back lane behind Waterloo Gardens, Cardiff adjacent to the recreation field and Roath Brook.
