Shows adult Diving Bell spider or Water Spider, Argyroneta aquatica (believed female) making a bubble nest amongst freshwater pond weeds. A unique spider species that spends almost all of it’s life underwater. Found in clean freshwater habitats, heavily vegetated such as ponds, marshes and canals.
Breathing via air bubbles trapped by hydrophobic hairs on legs and abdomen. Photographed in England, UK.
